NAME
Lucina Togno

DEGREE
Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering (Hons) / Bachelor of Science (Mathematics & Computer Science)

UNIVERSITY
Monash University

As a Graduate Engineer I am shaping the future by
Bringing critical infrastructure to life with the latest technology

Describe your day to day
I work on site every day in a team of two managing the essential services that keep a 44,000+ square meter facility running, everything from maintaining CCTV cameras to painting the walls. I’ll be planning the next round of upgrade works, holding meetings with our Client and the State, or running around triaging an unexpected breakdown. It’s rare for a day to go exactly as we plan on site, but figuring out the curve balls is part of the fun.

Describe your biggest achievement as a Grad
Coordinating and completing a full site asset condition audit, of over fifty thousand assets, and presenting my findings to a group of premium Clients in preparation for a contract renewal.

What is something you have learnt about yourself over your Grad journey
I find my work most satisfying when it challenges me in ways I didn’t expect

What I like best about the Grad Program
The amount of responsibility I’ve been given, although it was a little intimidating at the start, has been very rewarding and led to me gaining a massive variety of knowledge while working with amazing people.

NAME
Brad Miller

DEGREE
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) specialising in Software Engineering

UNIVERSITY
The University of Auckland, New Zealand

As a Graduate Software Engineer I am shaping the future by
Making industrial processes around the world safer, greener, more efficient and more reliable.

Describe your day to day
I work in an agile software development team with 3 other software engineers, as well as with a Product Owner (my manager) and Scrum Master (like a coach). At Honeywell I mainly work on software that controls large industrial processes (think plants that manufacture medicine, oil refineries, and breweries). I learn and use many different technologies to complete my day to day work.

Describe your biggest achievement as a Grad
Tracked down and solved an extremely safety-critical bug in industrial process software which could cause controller instructions to perform in the exact opposite way they were intended (long story!). Had the fix out to hundreds of customer sites with help from higher-ups all the way out in Phoenix, Arizona.

What is something you have learnt about yourself over your Grad journey
That I can do almost anything if I put my mind to it! Starting out a new career can be daunting at first, but as you learn and grow as a person your competence and estimation of your own abilities will rise dramatically, giving you the confidence you need to succeed.

What I like best about the Grad Program
What I like best about the Grad Program here at Honeywell is the people you meet and the supportive environment – everyone wants to see you grow and is willing to give you the help and guidance you need to become the best you can.

NAME
Yuanyun Yong

DEGREE
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechatronics Engineering

UNIVERSITY
University of Auckland

As a Graduate Project Engineer I am shaping the future by
Ensuring that the projects I am assigned to meet deadlines; the system functions and operates to the client’s standards (to a reasonable degree!).

Describe your day to day
A lot of teamwork and collaboration is required daily. Consistency across the frontend (i.e. focussing more on the visual aspect) as well as in the backend (i.e. focussing more on the structure of points) is paramount to the quality of the build and ease of maintenance.

Describe your biggest achievement as a Grad
Working on the EBI system of a large project allowed me to learn more about how the systems are built and I was assigned a small one-day job to upgrade some graphics on a different site. Being able to accomplish that without any major problems was a testament to how much I have learnt.

What is something you have learnt about yourself over your Grad journey
I’ve learnt that while perseverance is good, there is a fine line between that and stubbornness. Always be willing to ask for help and take breaks!

What I like best about the Grad Program
Graduates are important to Honeywell and the thought and effort which goes into planning our development and careers shows.
